Ex-high tech exec launches career workshop for unemployed or unhappy workers.
March 2003, Redwood City, CA: In the midst of a slow economy and a volatile high-tech industry, thousands of bay area people have left or will leave their jobs (voluntarily or not) and endure an awkward emotional period where nothing feels right, including their identity.
“How to Spark Career Breakthroughs and Life Changes” is a workshop for people who have left or lost their job and feel unsettled as a result, or for those who are thinking about quitting their job, but are afraid of taking a step into the unknown. It will be offered twice in Belmont, CA (May 16th & May 17th) by positive change expert, Debbie Gisonni. Workshop fee is $85.00
After fifteen years in business sales, marketing and executive positions, leading and motivating teams of people through major product and company changes, Gisonni left her executive salary and stock options behind at the height of her career in 1998. “I wanted to do something more meaningful with my life”, she says. Debbie is now an accomplished author, speaker, business consultant and founder of Real Life Lessons®, LLC, a company dedicated to helping people embrace challenge and change with a positive attitude; at work and at home. She is the author of the inspirational memoir, Vita’s Will: Real Life Lessons about Life, Death & Moving On and the e-column, Be Happy. “My goal is to help people find their own happiness and inner peace.”
In the workshop, Gisonni will counsel people through the physical and emotional process of leaving (or losing) a job, dealing with negative feedback, overcoming guilt and self-doubt, and reclaiming their identity. She also covers financial tips for that “in-between job” period”.
Gisonni says, “After the workshop, participants will be able to take charge of their careers and life on their own terms. Whether they decide to jump off the corporate ladder or are pushed off, they’ll land on the ‘souls’ of their feet.”
